Privacy Policy

MITEM Corporation is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. This privacy policy describes how MITEM, its affiliated companies, the evigils.com website, and the eVigils® iPhone and Android application (“eVigils,” “we,” or “our”) may collect, use, and disclose information about customers who use our websites, including evigils.com, and our mobile applications displaying this policy (collectively, the “Services”). This policy does not cover websites, applications, or services displaying different privacy statements.

1. What information do we collect?

Information you provide us

When you create an account, we ask you for your name, email address, and other optional information.

Account eligibility and provisioning: You can only create an eVigils account—whether as a clinician, staff member, or patient—if you are associated with a healthcare organization that participates in eVigils. Self‑service sign‑ups by individuals who are not connected to a participating organization are not supported. The information we request at sign‑up is collected solely to verify your identity and confirm that you are indeed a member or patient of such an organization, and to enable your access to the Services. It is not collected for advertising or unrelated marketing.

Information we may automatically collect

When you use eVigils, some information is automatically collected. For example, when you visit our website, your computer’s operating system, Internet Protocol (IP) address, access times, browser type, and language are logged automatically. We also collect information about your usage and activity.

2. How do we use the information we collect?

We use personal information collected through our Services for purposes described in this Policy or disclosed to you in our Services. For example, we may use your information to:

• operate and improve our Services;
• respond to your comments and questions and provide customer service;
• provide and deliver products and services you request;
• send you related information, including confirmations, invoices, technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages;
• better understand you so that we may tailor messaging and services based on your interests, preferences, needs, and specialties.

Important: We do not use personal information—whether from adults or children—for interest-based advertising or unrelated marketing. We use patient information solely to provide and support the Services.

3. What does eVigils® do with your message content?

eVigils stores messages exchanged between you and your collaborators. Anyone who sends or receives an eVigils message can retrieve the content of that message at any time. When displaying an eVigils message, the entire message, complete with notes and all recipients, will be visible. eVigils messages are stored and continue to be available for viewing by their collaborators and are searchable for reports for at least seven years.

Communication scope and restrictions

• Patient messaging is restricted to their own healthcare provider(s) within the patient’s assigned care team as determined by the healthcare organization.
• Patients cannot message other patients or any healthcare providers who are not on their assigned care team.
• eVigils does not provide public forums, social networking features, or an open directory for patient-to-patient or patient-to-unaffiliated provider messaging.
• Access to message threads is limited to the participants and administrators designated by the healthcare organization.

4. How does eVigils® protect your information?

We take appropriate measures to protect the information that we receive about you from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure; as a result, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The contents of eVigils messages are visible only to their direct participants. The names and membership of groups are visible only to the group membership.

5. Will eVigils® share the information it collects with others?

eVigils shares your name, email address, and other information you may optionally provide with other members of the eVigils Collaborative Groups that you join. eVigils does not share any of your information with other companies, services, or eVigils groups except as a result of actions you take, such as covering for, or being covered by, other eVigils users.

We may share personal information with third parties who work for us and need access to your information to do that work.

We may share eVigils information if required by law.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Audience and Children’s Privacy

eVigils provides services designed for healthcare organizations, their clinical and administrative staff, and their patients. The app is not intended for general use outside of these contexts.

Because patients of healthcare organizations may be of any age, including children, eVigils allows underage patients to create accounts in order to securely access their own healthcare information. We do not restrict patient access based on age.

All patient data—whether for adults or children—is protected with the same strict privacy and security safeguards. eVigils does not collect personal information from children for advertising, marketing, or unrelated purposes. Patient data is handled solely to provide secure access to healthcare services and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Communication restrictions described above apply to all patients, including children: children can communicate only with their own healthcare provider(s) within their assigned care team. They cannot message other patients or providers outside of that care team.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children outside of the patient–healthcare context. If you believe a child has provided us personal information outside that context, please contact us using the information below so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

7. Is this privacy statement subject to change?

Yes. The eVigils Privacy Policy is subject to change at any time. Please check this page for changes from time to time to make sure you are aware of our latest privacy practices. If we make any changes to this Policy, we will change the “Last Updated” date below.
